چکیده

In this letter, we describe a novel capillary force gripper with two nozzles for the manipulation of complex-shaped micro-objects. These rapidly form constant-volume droplets and have primary functions: fast water refilling by action droplet formation on-off control diaphragm pump. Capillary is dominant microscopic acting on objects all shapes owing to fluidity water. Therefore, it suitable capture release heterogeneous experiments, picked placed 1-mm cubes, triangular prisms, helical micro springs. The positioning errors ±SD each shape were 54 ± 36 μm, 85 32 162 74 respectively. prisms springs are difficult using conventional air nozzles, which typical accuracy approximately 40 μm rectangular prismatic objects. addition, setting distance between an appropriate value, reduced deviation attitude angle around vertical axis ±2.6° self-alignment phenomena cubes. proposed method feasible manipulating fragile micro-objects in micro-electro-mechanical systems field.

Reliable and Accurate Release of Micro-Sized Objects with a Gripper that Uses the Capillary-Force Method

There have been recent developments in grippers that are based on capillary force and condensed water droplets. These are used for manipulating micro-sized objects. Recently, one-finger grippers have been produced that are able to reliably grip using the capillary force. To release objects, either the van der Waals, gravitational or inertial-forces method is used. This article presents methods ...

Design of a Capillary Gripper for a Submillimetric Application

This paper describes the study of a gripper using the surface tension effects to pick and place the 0.5mm or 0.3mm diameter balls of a millimetric watch bearing. Two liquid supply strategies have been tested (pressure drive and tip dip). The effects of the coating (through the measurement of the contact angles), the presence of an internal channel and the size of the gripper have been studied. ...

Introducing a New and Simple Protocol for Capillary Electrophoresis of Cell Free Fetal Double Stranded DNA

Isolation of cell free fetal DNA (cffDNA) from maternal serum usually leads to very low concentrations of DNA impeding further resolving through conventional methods of electrophoresis. Although several protocols have been described for capillary electrophoresis (CE) of double stranded DNA, they usually need using special polymers or coated capillaries which degrade over time. Herein, we propos...

Elasticity of nanometer-sized objects

We initiate the development of a theory of the elasticity of nanoscale objects based upon new physical concepts which remain properly defined on the nanoscale. This theory provides a powerful way of understanding nanoscale elasticity in terms of local group contributions and gives insight into the breakdown of standard continuum relations. We also give two applications. In the first, we show ho...

Continuous Near-Field Electrospraying Using a Glass Capillary Nozzle

A continuous near-field electrospray process has been developed to deposit micropatterns. Different from traditional electrospray technologies, the nozzle-to-substrate distance was shortened to less than 5 mm, and a glass capillary nozzle with a diameter of tens of microns was used. Steady and continuous ejection was achieved, and patterns with line widths of sub-100 μm were generated. The infl...
